I usually do grocery shopping as I usually find it relaxing as I stride through the aisles planning a gourmet menu. Lately though, I see a real crisis. It's not the election.
A lot of mass actions are happening next weekend leading to the 5th anniversary of the Iraq War. If you can, please make a custom tshirt or wear 1 visible sign of your protest to the war. If you cannot afford a button or a tshirt...
It's almost 3:00PM ET and I've gotten tired of dueling 3:00AM ads and NAFTA bombs from Hillary and Barack. Lest we all forget we STILL have a war in Iraq entering year 6!!!
I was reading this article in the Financial Times written by Martin Wolf who quotes an economist I know and deeply respect, NYU's Nouriel Roubini. In the interest of the quick read, I am reposting the 12 steps.
In my opinion, this was all caused by the crazy monetary policies of the Bush Administration, the Fed and our unbridled deficit caused by the war in Iraq.
For anyone who does not understand how we got to this incredible horrendous economic mess. This is a very basic primer on how we got to this economic hell hole. By understanding the basics, one can understand who was behind the economic mess we are in.
I do not believe anyone can disagree that there is no win in Iraq. We stay, we're screwed. We leave, Iraq is screwed and maybe us... at least it's only a maybe. Question is: Is it an American problem or an Iraqi problem?
Seriously, do we have lawyers, particularly those who are constitutional law experts or others who are deeply familiar with the congressional investigation process. The question is: Does a former Presidential Staffer such as Harriett Meyers continue to be in in the protection of executive privilege even if they are no longer...
Covering up the truth becomes the greater and more egregious crime. Didn't Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton's follies teach these congressional hypocrites how to handle these situations?
Ever since 9/11 and 7/7, both the US and Great Britain have put in a lot of effort to create an aura and belief that we are secure: stronger cockpit doors, taking shoes off, banning nail clippers and nail files and last Thursday banning liquids and gels.
There are no winners in war... no victors, no vanquished. War is violent in its images. It is cruel in its results and feeble in its humanity. There is no humanity in war.
Last January, we launched GoodStorm.com and have so far signed up over 400 individuals and organizations. Some of the organizations are so big, that their visibility and coming out party is a little delayed but we will be announcing a series of new large non-profit partners.
Today we have another tool to power the progressive movement.
Three straight days of blogging here and it's been an experience. The SF Chronicle did a small blog article on my company GoodStorm and about our efforts to re-invent capitalism. Follow this link: http://sfgate.com/...
I believe the power of the progressive movement comes from our fundamental belief in the goodness and grace of people. It scares me to think that there are many who truly have sunk into the abyss of blind demagoguery.
Folks, buy the stamps and t-shirts and send a forceful but peaceful protest message on tax day. At the same time, you will be supporting some great organizations dedicated to honoring our troops and peace for all.
Yesterday, I posted my first diary entry to spread the good word about the first official US postage stamp with a clear anti-war / Bring The Troops Home Now message. Well, it did not take the right wing long to begin their mean-spirited and tasteless attacks on the stamp itself. There appears to be a campaign to launch their own pro-war, militaristic version of the peace stamp.
GoodStorm (www.goodstorm.com), a progressive e-Commerce company, is helping BringThemHomeNow.com, a coalition of groups calling on President Bush to bring U.S. troops home from Iraq, to launch a tax day protest by selling an anti-war postage stamp online.
